We asked him questions about the development of RioX.

Introduction
Q — Ayeley from GAINS: Fantastic. Let’s begin with some background info. Please introduce yourself. Is RioX your first crypto venture? It would be interesting to know about your exploits so far and how you ended up in crypto.
A — Wilson from RioX: Sure. My background is in computational applied mathematics with a master’s degree in applied geophysics. I have been involved in the crypto space since 2017, investing, networking, and interacting with several DeFi and GameFi projects and exciting stuff.
Thanks to my work at MetaBrands, a metaverse resource DAO and gaming guild, I got invited to be RioX advisor. I´m assisting the team on three main aspects: communication, strategic partnerships, and the game's economic sustainability.
I´m also part of PrexisLabs, a blockchain development company focusing on smart contracts for DeFi and NFT projects.
About RIO-X
Q — Ayeley from GAINS: What is the project about in a few simple sentences?
A — Wilson from RIO-X: Sure, The world of RioX takes place in a post-apocalyptic Brazil, specifically in Vidigal (a slum and neighborhood in Rio de Janeiro), where the infectious viral disease is spreading. In order to suppress the contagion, the local government built retaining walls, and now and so people are locked there. Players will face other survivors who spend day and night looking for hideouts, weapons, food, medicine, money, and also spending resources to defend and grow.
Most members of the team have been playing games since they were young, but they missed the need for a game closer to reality in terms of the physical environment and game lore. In 2019, the early alpha version of the game was elected the Best Indie Game at BGS, the biggest game event in Latin America.
That proved the technical quality of the team and the excellence of what they were building. That was followed by releasing pre-alpha on STEAM in the middle of 2021 and got a solid base of Early Adopters with more than 5000 registered players who acquired early access and helped to solidify the foundation before the X implementation which is free to play to earn aspect.
Q — Ayeley from GAINS: For how long has the team been building?
A — Wilson from RioX: The team has been building this game since 2019, and has 11 people working full time on it. and will hire more than 20 people soon.
Q — Twitter user @ImMelike32: The long-term sustainability of any Game is determined by the attractiveness and interestingness of its Core gameplay to keep players coming back. How does “RIO-X” ensure that its gameplay is interesting enough to attract both traditional & Blockchain Gamers in the long run?
A — Wilson from RioX: This is a crucial question for any GameFi project out there, especially when you´re evaluating it from an investor perspective. As I mentioned earlier, most members of the team have been playing games since they were young.
The team vision is to bring players to RioX because of its gameplay because it is fun and engaging. That is why the team released the game on Steam first, without the blockchain, without the play2earn aspect. And so the team got feedback from actual players who really cared about the game experience.
The team will push that vision, opening positions to hire more than 20 people to expand the game along with all the advantages of the blockchain.
Q — Twitter user @DngGiaPhong2: I noticed that RIO-X has an NFT category which is called the “T-NFT”. Can you please explain to us this NFT concept? How is this NFT series different from the standard NFT we see every day? How would these NFT series be used in your game?
A — Wilson from Rio-X: T-NFT is short for Temporary Non-Fungible Token. It is similar to traditional NFT created in the ERC-721 and ERC1155 standards, but it has the temporary concept that works as a provisional item inside the game. It will work as a collectible item that remains in the player’s wallet until it is sold or transferred. The goal is to use T-NFT as a validatable item.
The expiration date will allow groups of investors, users, and traders to acquire temporary configurations. In-game announcements and events will work as tickets through T-NFT.
Q — Telegram user Walid Arbitrum: What is the meaning of S2E and how does it work exactly?
A — Wilson from RioX: S2E stands for survival to earn. When playing the game you will experience the human basic needs like hunger. So you need to acquire food, medicines, etc.
Q — Telegram user Mira🎈: The “X” integration feature that caught my attention in ``Raised in Oblivion X’’ caught my attention. Can you tell us about your “X” integration? Why did you name this integration “X” and what is the success you want to achieve with the “X” integration?
A — Wilson from RioX: The X means the blockchain layer integration, the free-to-play and earn aspect of the game.
Q — Telegram user Metaverse: As RioX is a new Project and everyone is expecting a bear run after 4- 5 months, Do You think it is a Problem for RIOX?
A — Wilson from Rio-X: This is where RioX is quite different compared to other games. The team vision is to bring players who are not into crypto which is why releasing the game on Steam was crucial to us. Actual players don’t care much about crypto, but the game. And so we combined both: non-crypto and crypto players with help form guilds
Token
Q — Ayeley from GAINS: How will the token be used in the RioX ecosystem?
A — Wilson from RioX: RioX has two tokens in its ecosystem: Rio-X and Rio Coin. The first one is the governance token which will have the typical DeFi usages like voting, payment, farm/stake, and utility unlocking among others.
The main utility for RioX is that people can buy characters, weapon skins, lands, billboards, and many other items from the Metaverse in the form of NFTs.
The second token, Rio Coin, is an in-game item that only exists inside the game. It can be used to buy in-game items such as food, and medicine, or exchanged for Rio-X tokens in the marketplace.
Q — Telegram user Topind: Which one is advisable for users to invest in long-term between Rio-X and Rio Coin or can I invest in both?
A — Wilson from RioX: The Rio Coin is not available to buy anywhere. It only exists inside the game and you have to play to earn it
Q — Telegram user Cameron Cleary: What are the benefits of holding your token as a long-term investment? Can you tell us about the motivation and benefits for investors to keep your token in the long run??
A — Wilson from RioX: RioX is developing a circular bi-directional game economy, which means players can earn the in-game currency, but there are a multitude of spending options to level your characters or dominate certain areas with other players.
Funding
Q — Ayeley from GAINS: Did you raise funds so far? If so, how did you handle them? And are you planning to do any future raises?
A — Wilson from RioX: The project is in the early stage of fundraising, but we have advanced quite a bit on that, especially having you guys on board along with Magnus Capital, ZBS, OIG, and others.
The only raise that was done previously, back in 2019, was an equity round where a few people helped to fund the project to build the alpha version, and now we have a full game with 18 (11 full time) people working on it, which is quite different compared to other games in the space.
They raise to build a game while RioX is raising to expand the team and finalize the game with the blockchain layer.
RioX will expand the map for other areas of Rio de Janeiro. Such people have a real metaverse-like experience without the need to travel to Rio de Janeiro to see the city if they want to.
Competitive Advantage
Q — Ayeley from GAINS: What sets the game apart from the many games in the crypto gaming sector? Indeed, many of them are struggling to stay relevant. What makes RioX the solution that will remain relevant for years to come.
A — Wilson from RioX: That is a great question. RioX is very different compared to other games out there. The unique environment where the game takes place, Rio de Janeiro for example.
The designers modeled it from scratch to create this metaverse-like experience (local businesses and famous tourist spots) and also the apocalyptic scenario. With blockchain technology, players can be the true owners of the game’s assets.
Business Development
Q — Ayeley from GAINS: You mentioned earlier the project has been in the works since 2019. How far along are you with your roadmap and what should we expect in the next weeks and months?
A — Wilson from RioX: The game is in an advanced alpha stage and is available for testing to our partners and investors. That means the team is moving forward for the beta version with the X implementation on mainnet in a few weeks after IDO. I suggest everyone take a look at our roadmap for a deep dive here
In a few days, the team will push for the marketing awareness campaigns focusing on exposing the game to casual players in collaboration with game publishers, gaming guilds, and game streamers worldwide.
This week, new features will be introduced in the next update of the game. And so we are inviting the community to a competition that we will hold to help us test the airdrop system the team implemented. After that, the team will add the final touch to the marketplace and customize character NFTs.
Q — Ayeley from GAINS: Will there be other cities in the future?
A — Wilson from RioX: Another differentiator is that the game is the only S2E (Survive to Earn) game that has sought to listen to the wishes of users by releasing a pre-alpha on Steam, exposing the product to suggestions from the community, collecting ideas and desires of actual players who care about the experience.
That is quite possible, especially with in-game partnerships with other projects in the space.
